Breathe Easy Kenya: Empowering Frontline Healthcare Workers through Evidence-Informed Respiratory Care

In a strategic effort to combat the high burden of pneumonia and respiratory diseases in Kenya, Cochrane Kenya and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), with funding from the Pan-African Thoracic Society (PATS Africa), hosted a high-impact sensitization meeting at Kitengela Sub-County Hospital.

The workshop brought together multidisciplinary medical professionals—including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and administrators—to bridge the gap between scientific research and clinical practice.

Core Objective: Evidence at the Point of Care

The primary mission was to empower healthcare workers with the skills to identify, appraise, and apply Evidence-Informed Decision-Making (EIDM). By integrating the best available research with clinical expertise and patient values, the program aims to improve patient outcomes and streamline hospital processes.

Moving Forward

The workshop concluded with a commitment to future collaboration between KEMRI/Cochrane Kenya and Kitengela Sub-County Hospital. By fostering a culture of "Evidence in Action," the Breathe Easy Kenya initiative is ensuring that respiratory care in the region is not only effective but also world-class.
