Celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science at Cochrane.
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our International Day of Women and Girls in Science panel discussion. It was an honor to indulge with prominent women from Cochrane’s global network of independent researchers – Julia Finkelstein and Barbra Miheso, expertly chaired by our Cochrane CEO, Karla Soares-Weiser.
The session offered a profound look into the personal journeys of women navigating the global scientific landscape. From discussing the systemic challenges and barriers they have overcome to sharing the invaluable lessons learned throughout their careers, our panelists provided a roadmap of resilience for the next generation. Their candid advice for women just starting out in the sector was a true highlight, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, persistence, and finding one's unique voice in evidence synthesis.
We also appreciated the honest dialogue regarding the opportunities Cochrane has provided and, more importantly, the constructive ideas on how we can evolve as an organization. Strengthening our support for women in scientific careers remains a top priority, and the thoughtful questions from our audience during the Q&A helped pinpoint exactly where we can make the most impact.
Thank you for your engagement and for helping us celebrate the incredible contributions of women to the global evidence ecosystem. Together, we are building a more inclusive future for science.
